Spring Cedar
This painting is a close-up view of a cedar tree. In spring the branches of the cedar seem to smile with the warming temperatures and a winter of water. Parched in the fall, they look a little droopy. I almost painted out the trunk of the tree to make it all very abstract, but I left it in for reference. There is so much to see in a tree that sometimes simplifying its many branches and leaves to a more close up approach is more intimate. The overall creates a whole that becomes simply colors and patterns.
