Long Shadows
I live near a lake, Rollins Lake, just outside of Colfax California. The spring and fall are my favorite times to paint at the lake. This painting was done in early spring, just as the trees are beginning to put on new growth. It was a late afternoon painting, a new time of day for me, sort of relating to the August of our time, as our extreme climate changes with each passing season. I appreciate the stillness in this painting and the reflections of the long tree shadows in the water. The day coming to a close.
